My Approach to Therapy

In our journey together, we will explore your story in a caring, safe, and judgment-free space. I am passionate about helping people understand themselves better—their emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and patterns. Together, we will delve into your inner world, integrating the latest insights from neuroscience about the brain and nervous system with long known and understood practices. We will also unpack how your past has shaped your present, empowering you to make choices that align with your goals and values moving forward. Your treatment plan will be tailored to your unique needs, ensuring a personalized and meaningful path toward healing and growth.

Therapeutic Modalities

My counselling approach is person-centered and trauma-informed, integrating a variety of evidence-based modalities including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors to improve emotional well-being.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Teaches skills for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness, often used for managing intense emotions.

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): Helps clients process and heal from trauma by using bilateral stimulation to reframe distressing memories.

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI): A collaborative approach that helps clients explore and strengthen their motivation to make positive changes.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Encourages acceptance of difficult emotions and commitment to values-driven actions to create a meaningful life.

  • Mindfulness-Based Practices: Integrates techniques that enhance present-moment awareness and reduce stress by fostering a nonjudgmental perspective.
